Community Partners
We work with non-profitt and community organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area on a variety of design projects. Most work with Community Partners is done in the context of the semester-long Community Engaged Design course. Students work collaboratively on a design thinking process to interview stake holders, conduct ethnographic and background research, test prototypes, gather feedback and create final outcomes. In addition to visual design such as posters, websites, social media, signage and brochures, our design students have also created strategic solutions that solve larger issues. Through a carefully scaffolded process overseen by expert faculty, our team can identify underlying problems and find the right solution for your goals.
Faculty Research
Need info graphics for the data you are working on? Illustrations for your book chapter? Want to make your slides more engaging for an upcoming presentation or your research poster more eye catching? Designers can help bring your research to life. Our student designers can help make your research relatable and understandable to different audiences. Our designers have work with faculty in Economics, Public Health, Law, Environmental Science, Politics and more to create short videos, info graphics, icons, visual reports, and more. Rather than spend time trying to find another RA - let our designers make your research stand out.
USF Campus Projects
Ampersand Studio works on internal campus projects at the University of San Francisco for departments, offices, groups, and initiatives. These projects have ranged from large-scale semester-long initiatives such as branding, user experience design and large campaigns, to shorter small scale projects such as signage, flyers and brochures. We work closely with the USF brand guidelines and campus policies to make sure projects adhere to the USF community while taking on their own personality.

ASUSF Clubs and Orgs as well as student focused events should direct their design inquiries to the Graphics Center. Large scale, external facing campus projects should direct their design inquiries to the Office of Marketing and Communications.
Students
Students interested in working as part of the Ampersand Studio should first enroll in ART 365: Community Engaged Design, which serves as the gateway for studio work.
